White Valley Lodge will be run by husband and wife team Andrew and Nancy Dickinson. Andrew and Nancy have travelled extensively around the globe, staying in some of the most luxurious and exclusive ski lodges. They both have extensive knowledge of the finer details that really make for a luxury holiday, and they are delighted to bring them to The White Valley Company.
For the last two winters Andrew has worked on the project full time in Morzine, gaining experience and knowledge of the resort while enjoying summers in Jersey where Nancy has been continuing her corporate role.
“We have skied many resorts through out Europe and latterly spent several seasons in Chamonix, where we considered investing. A chance visit to Morzine changed all that, as we loved how extensive the connected skiing is and the short transfer from Geneva airport. The resort is charming and the beauty of Vallee de la Manche has simply blown us away.
Having found and purchased the ideal plot we’ve since spent plenty of time researching our wine selection while gaining detailed planning permission! The Vallee de la Manche is an area of outstanding natural beauty, so while the wait has been a little frustrating it is understandable that the planners closely guard it!
We selected the award winning company Attitude Bois to build the Lodge for us after staying in chalets built by them and viewing many more too! We’ve been impressed with the standard of their workmanship, especially the detail and accuracy of their woodwork. A conversation with Jean-Paul the company founder is brilliant, his natural enthusiasm for what he does is entirely infectious! We loved the fact that so many of his team have been with him for years, Eric who is in charge of our build has worked with Jean-Paul for over 22 years – absolutely nothing is going to phase them!
The fitting out of a ski lodge is both a fabulous experience and hugely expensive! Especially when you have an eye for detail and are determined to get absolutely every aspect perfect. We have been very lucky to have help from our personal friend Liz Howell who has a fabulous lifestyle boutique Elizabeth Howell in Jersey and lots of wonderful contacts that she has used on our behalf to source and find some very special pieces. Equally we have been really fortunate to meet Carole who runs Le chalet de Jules based in Chamonix, who is very experienced in advising and supplying fixtures and fittings and special pieces from the Alps for chalets including some very special ones with famous owners!
So we still have a busy few months ahead of us and will keep you updated on our progress. Please continue to follow our blog, and we hope you’ll visit us at White Valley Lodge this winter!
